Why a good FAQ matters
An event FAQ answers in advance the questions you would otherwise get dozens of times. The FAQ is also one of the sources you feed Robin: the clearer your FAQ, the more specific Robin's answers.
Template: topics to cover
Use this structure as a starting point and add to it for your own event:
- Arrival: what time do the doors open, where do I check in, what should I bring?
- Travel and parking: how do I get there by public transport, where do I park, when does the last train leave?
- Program: where do I find the program, can I switch between sessions?
- Catering: when are the breaks, are there dietary options?
- Venue: where are the rooms, cloakroom and toilets?
- Interaction: how do I ask a question during a session, how do I join polls?
- Contact: who can I turn to if I cannot find something?
Examples of good answers
Less good: "Parking is available nearby." Better: "You park in the garage next to the venue. From there it is a five minute walk to the entrance."
Less good: "Lunch is around noon." Better: "Lunch is from 12:30 to 13:30 in the foyer. There is a vegetarian option."
These examples are illustrations. Always fill in the real details of your event.
Writing tips
Keep your FAQ useful:
- One question per item, phrased the way an attendee would ask it.
- Concrete times, places and names instead of vague descriptions.
- Short answers of one to three sentences.
- Update the FAQ when something changes, so Robin gives current answers.
